Monday: Herrinfesta Italiana 10k and 1 mile Race
This was an awesome race series and so organized. I was under the weather the days leading up to the race and still felt congested and like I was a million degrees. Add in the heat and humidity of the race and I thought I was on fire within the first mile.

What I GREATLY appreciated were the aid stations. Since I was using the 10k as a long run and wasn’t racing, I took advantage of stopping at all the aid stations and even stretching. At about mile 4 they had cold towels and these were AMAZING!
I dipped my towel in each ice cooler at all the following aid stations.

You can see my towel wrapped in my sports bra around my neck. Seriously it SAVED me. This race was great and nice and flat.

I also signed up for the mile that took place about 45 minutes after I finished the 10k. I wanted to do it at least as a cool down. So I grabbed an ice pop, banana and Gatorade, and stretched for a few minutes. I decided to walk down to the start for the mile. Not sure how far that was, but it helped keep my legs moving.
I ran the mile and surprised myself because I had no idea I would finish with a decent time. I thought I was just dilly dallying along.
