Oh, it’s that time. The time that I make a fool of myself and post it ALL OVER the internet world.
Enjoy!
Have a great weekend everyone!! I’ll have another post up later today!
I decided to write about some things I would not mind receiving for my birthday!

Obviously not completely accurate, but a good estimate on the above.

This is just an example but I really want a bike trainer for the apartment.

OR keep an eye out for the volleyball clearance in the blemished section for size small for $7.99 here. That’s where all of mine have come from.
Other various items that I don’t have time to get pictures for because it is time to go to bed.
Nike Structure Triax +14 in bright pink or bright blue size 7
Nike Sports Bras, preferably one in red.
Anything running related, nike related, apartment related.
Giftcards like Schnucks, Walmart, Target, TJ Maxx, etc.
Apartment decorations that go with the color scheme of neutrals like browns, blacks, creams and red.
Hopefully there are some ideas there!
Q: What would you ask for if it was your birthday?
Q: What items do you like the best from my list?
So I will be turning 21 in less than 2 weeks. I’m excited because it’s a huge age to celebrate but I’m not big on alcohol. So here’s my post on alcohol
I have only had a few sips of people’s drinks when I attend social gatherings and haven’t really found anything that I like. I have been judged many of times because I don’t drink alcohol and people feel that because I don’t drink that I think I am better than them. This is absolutely wrong. I don’t drink because I have no reason to drink underage. I don’t need alcohol to enjoy myself (although some parties I’ve attended are really lame, so I tend to leave) but I don’t think I have to drink in order to be liked. It does suck to be judged and not invited to things because of something ridiculous like whether or not I drink.

[source]
I have not found anything I like the taste to. I cannot drink things with a “sparkly” taste or carbonated taste to it.
I’ m not 21 and I don’t have a reason to drink.
Running. That is a HUGE part of my life and as a dietetics major I have learned about the effects alcohol does have with training and recovery.
I don’t ever want to be “wasted” or lose control of myself and my body. That is scary and to think that is fun makes me sometimes wonder what your definition of fun is. (It is scary to hear people on campus talk about their stories and how they don’t remember if they had sex the night before, if they were protected, who they were with and how they got home.)

"Binge drinking may aggravate soft tissue injury. Blood flow needs to be reduced at the sight of injury in order to contain the injury. Alcohol consumption has the opposite effect; increasing blood flow to the area and can therefore increase recovery time." - source
"Alcohol can cause increased swelling after a game if an injury is sustained because alcohol causes the blood vessels to dilate. Alcohol can also mask pain. For those who are familiar with injuries, the more swelling in an injured area, the longer it could take to recover and get back to optimal playing form." - source
“Alcohol however can decrease the secretion of HGH by as much as 70%.
When alcohol is in your body, it triggers the production of a substance in your liver that is directly toxic to testosterone. Testosterone is essential for the development and recovery of your muscles. As alcohol is absorbed through your stomach and small intestine and into your cells, it can disrupt the water balance in muscle cells, altering their ability to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is your muscles’ source of energy. ATP provides the fuel necessary for your muscles to contract.” – source

[source]
"Alcohol contributes almost twice as many calories as equal amounts of carbohydrate and protein. Alcohols provide 7 calories per gram whereas carbohydrate and protein equal 4 calories per gram. Needless to say, calories in beer are easily fattening." - source
"The carbohydrates found in alcoholic beverages are not converted into glucose and are used to make fatty acids that are stored as fat mainly in the liver. Alcohol has also been shown to increase fat composition." - source

[source]
Alcohol is not bad in moderation. There are just times where it’s okay and others where I would rather not drink.
Example: I would not drink alcohol after or before a competition. Why? The effects it has on recovery. Same goes within season. A drink every once in awhile, perfectly fine. But drinking excessively, not okay for me.
In fact I don’t know if I would ever have more than one drink at a time.

[source]
Am I going to judge you or think less of you if you drink and drink a lot? No. Unless you give me a reason to. But like I have stated, I don’t think I am better. Everyone has a different lifestyle and different tastes. I won’t judge you for yours and you shouldn’t judge me for mine.
This will be an exception to the one drink. My 21st celebration will be a time to try things. Since I don’t really know what I would like, it will be a tasting festivity haha. I’ve already talked to my brother to start planning. I’m sure however, that it will be me tasting and if I don’t like it, I know someone out there will want the rest!

*If you are underage and are reading this, don’t ever feel pressured to drink. You have control over your body and make the choices for yourself. Don’t let others make them for you or pressure you into something you don’t want to do. If they don’t accept you for not drinking, then they have a really shallow personality. I know I have been harassed to drink or do other things I didn’t want to do many of times in my life but honestly, I can say that standing ground and holding true to myself is my biggest strength and I love that peer pressure never broke me down and that I can stand up for myself. I think that is truly the biggest and greatest quality one can have.

[source]
*I did not write this post to bring up controversy or say drinking is bad or good. I wrote about my thoughts and my experiences. I will enjoy drinking for my birthday and experiencing different types but I won’t turn it into a lifestyle. I’m not better than anyone, nor do I think I am because of my alcohol choices.
*As a dietetics major, I live by the quote “everything is good in moderation.” As long as you know the effects and are aware of your consumption then go for it.
*Also, I did not just go and copy and paste this information. I have studied it in class and yes, even that wonderful chart up there, I am aware of. The material I got from the internet is the information that I have felt is most effective in the understanding of alcohol from my experience.

I made a very awesome dinner the other night and have been eating the leftovers for a few days hah.
Chicken and Tomato-Spinach Orzo
My mom sent the recipe
Spinach Tomato Orzo
1 Tbs Butter
1 Tbs Oil
Small Onion (Diced)
8 oz Orzo (half box)
1 can Stewed or Diced Tomatoes
6 cups of raw spinach or 1 16 oz can of spinach drained
4-6 Tbs Balsamic Vinegar
Salt and Pepper
Parmesan Cheese
Cook Orzo in water
Meanwhile:
1. In skillet melt butter and oil and put onion in pan, cook until softened
2. Put spinach in skillet to wilt or if using canned, put in and stir.
3. Empty tomatoes and juice into pan.
4. Season with salt and pepper.
5. Add balsamic vinegar. Taste and add more if you want.
6. Add cooked orzo and stir.
7. Cover with Parmesan Cheese.
This will feed 4 to 6.
Before that I went for a much needed run. It was a scheduled off day but I needed to get out the door. I told myself that distance and time did not matter and just to run for fun. So I did.
3 Miles in 24:25 [8:08 per mile]
I also added something new to my running
A Garmin heartrate monitor!! I’ve been wanting to use one forever. Alex had his laying around and gave it to me!
8:08 (159bpm) – 8:01 (167 bpm) – 8:24 (172 bpm) and then last 15 ft it was at 181bpm.
You’ll definitely be seeing a lot of this on the blog now because I love it.
I then did a little post recovery
Another thing I love: the show Dance Moms

[source]
It’s addicting because these girls are so good at dancing it blows my mind.
Q: Are you going to try the new lean1 smoothies? What flavor?
Q: Do you watch dance moms?
Q: Do you run with a hear rate monitor?
The Concrete Runner tagged me in the 7 links post and so I am excited to show mine!! It’s amazing how big the blogworld is, but how small it can be too. I actually live near the Concrete Runner when I’m at home and we tend to run the same routes. You should definitely check out her blog because if you love ice cream, custard, frozen yogurt or anything related you will love the pictures on her blog! I practically drool on my computer.
The rules to the 7 links project are here

These weren’t posted by me, but the most beautiful posts was the guest series my mother wrote called “My Daughter, the Runner.” It probably made me cry for a long time and it really touched my heart.

– Your most controversial post
The Great Comments Make My Day post talking about how a lot of bloggers post pictures of what they eat and talk about how healthy they are but a huge bowl of veggies for your meals is not completely healthy and somewhat disordered eating.
AND
Sub 20 minutes with a lot of nasty comments from those around me how you have to literally break 20 minutes to be considered sub 20. As if I did not know that. It really hurt my feelings hearing those around me not have faith that I could have done it. I get that I’m not the best, but I constantly work my tail off to prove others wrong and this will be no exception.

The So You Want to Be A Runner posts. I remember getting a lot of feedback from these, even though they have no comments, only because I switched comment plugins and they got deleted

Physical Therapy for Compartment Syndrome post
– A post you feel didn’t get the attention it deserved
This was a post that I put together of the companies that truly care and give back. They have a cause which is wonderful.

Q: What are some of your favorite posts?
First off, how cute is this bread?! Peppridge Farm Goldfish Sandwich Bread!

I saw it on Krazy Coupon Lady and hope that it is cheap so the $1.00 coupon will get it almost free because how adorable is that bread hahah!
Second of all, I’m in a slump. A depressed running state slump. Obviously last week of running sucked for me. Let me break it down so you can see.
=27.68 miles / 39 miles = fail
Well because of that week, it basically told coach that my body is not ready to handle that mileage an therefore I am dropping mileage. It’s for the best and I understand, but I do feel irritated in myself. I just know I can do better and it was one bad week. But I just have to think positive about it and hope it was just one week and not the start of many bad weeks if I continued on with that mileage.
Honestly, the mileage isn’t even that much different so it shouldn’t affect me mentally and that it will still make me a better runner and won’t take away my ability to race well. I just have to take each season at a time and this season is not going to be a 45 mile a week season but more like a 40 mile a week.
So for all of you who are in a slump like me, or need some inspiration, here you go.

Q: What inspires you to get moving?
Q: Have you tried the goldfish bread?
So there was a breakfast that I thoroughly enjoyed last week. However, after two days they were gone.
RIP chocolate chocolate chip muffin from Costco.
But alas, enter protein chocolate chip pancakes made by chef BF Alex
Also we made the best fettuccini I have ever had.

I also finished my second bracelet. If you are interested in a handmade bracelet they are $5 each and that includes the shipping to get it to you!
Now my run today was absolutely awful. I was supposed to run 8 miles and only got in 5.5.
I just have not been feeling so hot this week. I’m hoping that maybe if I can wake up early before work and run that it might be better. It’s just so hot here that it is really taking it’s toll on me. ![]()
Q: Do you feel bad when you cut a run? I felt awful. I even walked about 2 miles just to get through and back to my apartment.
Q: Have you ever cooked something that was seriously the best thing you’ve ever made?
If you are seeing this post then that means you successfully have made it over to the new blog
I’m extremely excited about this and would love to hear your input.
The winner of the Victoria’s Secret $10 gift certificate is…

I’ve been extremely busy with work, running and SELF HOSTING.
Yes, that is right, the blog is growing up. I have been moving blogger to wordpress and got my own domain etc. I’m doing the whole process by myself and I am very happy to say in one day the majority is all day. I just have to work on making it pretty and transferring the pages. So keep a look out for the move. It should be by tomorrow night or Monday!
In the meantime I saw that Blue Bunny makes FROZEN YOGURT! And I of course had to buy some.
So yummy and you definitely need to give it a try.
I haven’t taken any running pictures but here’s a break down so far:
I’ll have more for you later!!
Q: Did you switch your blog over yourself or pay someone to do it?
Q: Have you tried Blue Bunny’s frozen yogurt?
